Abdominal Ultrasound

Goals and Objectives

Obtain 3 standard abdominal views for peritoneal fluid:

• Hepatorenal
• Spleenorenal
• Pelvic

Recognize intraperitoneal fluid

Understand how to apply the FAST exam to non-trauma cases

Renal

• Ultrasound the both kidenys in the long and short axis
• Recognize moderate to severe hydronephrosis

Bladder distension

• Ultrasound bladder in long and short axis
• Qualitatively and quantitatively identify bladder distension
